Voivod is a band that I have been following since the late 80's having first photographed them in 1990 at Backstreets in Rochester NY. (with some unknown band named Soundgarden as openers) When I heard that they had been invited to play as part of the 40th Montreal Jazz Fest it seemed like a worthwhile roadtrip. As part of the evening the band would perform "The End of Dormancy" from their Juno award winning record, "The Wake" complete with a brass section playing music written and arranged by the bands guitarist Dan Mongrain. Thanks to Dan and their manager James for helping me with access to shoot. Opening the show was a duo of Avant -Garde  guitarist Rene' Lussier and Drummer Robbie Kuster. hat I have been following
